Copeland Borough Council has now approved a Petitions Scheme which will guarantee that our residents' concerns will be heard by the Council.

All Petitions containing 1000 signatures or more will be considered by Council itself. Petitions to hold a Senior Officer to account will require 500 signatures and will be considered by an Overview and Scrutiny Committee. Ordinary Petitions need 50 signatures and they will be considered in the way which is thought most appropriate.

To read more about the Petition Scheme then click on epetitions (pdf format). Alternatively you can contact our Democratic Services Manager Tim Capper on 01946 598526 or at democraticservices@copelandbc.gov.uk  for advice.

An e-petition system will soon be available on-line.
