How can I contact my Ward Councillor?

Copeland Councillors have their own webpages, these pages have Councillor contact details and details of which committees and panels they sit on. Individual Councillors, or jointly with the other members for a ward, can expand their pages to display information about specific ward matters and/or use them to interact with residents.

Can I attend Council or Committee Meetings?.. and can I speak at Meetings?

Any members of the public can attend meetings of the Full Council, Executive, Overview and Scrutiny Committees and Panels. If you wish, you can ask a question at a meeting of the full Council, but you need to give our Democratic Services section at least 7 working days notice.

Members of the public can also speak at meetings of the Planning Panel on applications for planning permission which they have objected to. To do this you need to give our Development Services section at least 6 working days notice before the meeting.

You can find dates of Planning Panel meetings in the calendar, or by contacting us by e-mail at info@copelandbc.gov.uk or calling Copeland Direct on 0845 054 8600

How can I make my views known and get involved in local issues?

You can contact your Ward Councillor and make your views known to them their web pages, alternatively you can look at reports and decisions of the Council, Executive using the Committee Minutes Section

If you would like to suggest a topic of general interest or concern in the community which could be included on the work plan for one of our Overview and Scrutiny Committee, we'd be pleased to hear from you.
