The Beacon's Double Award Success
Volunteering

The Council provides and supports a range of sports, arts, health and physical activity and community development initiatives.

Whitehaven Sports Centre, Copeland Swimming Pool, Whitehaven Civic Hall and the Bowls Centre have been transferred to Leisure Copeland a part of North Country Leisure - a registered charity, the Council continues to play an active part in other areas.

We work in partnership to support and advise sports clubs, schools, arts and other community organisations to promote and develop a range of services and activities for local people to become involved with.

We work very closely with a range of partners to help make Copeland a better and healthier place to live. We are actively involved in projects that improve community safety and reduce anti-social behaviour, improve people's health and lifestyle and support voluntary organisations to develop and provide local services.

Museum and Tourism Services are based at The Beacon Whitehaven and are run directly by Copeland Borough Council.

As well as running the Beacon museum, the service also operates the Museum Resource Centre, Whitehaven Tourist Information Centre (TIC) and also supports the tourism services in Egremont and Millom.

The Cultural Services Department are here to help individuals and communities get the most out of their leisure time.  To review our Cultural Services Customer Standards Charter, click on the link below.
