There needed to be evidence of required demand for
Broadband from residential and business users in the area to enable
the local exchange upgrade that allows Broadband to come to Millom.
This is where YOU HAVE MADE
A DIFFERENCE.. it required a register of interest for this
new service to be made available, and a requirement to reach a trigger
level of 500 BT had set for this area.
This has gone so well that we now have reached
this target and have been informed of the Ready For Service (RFS)
date, which will be the 24th May 2004.
British Telecom (BT) are undertaking a campaign to
promote Broadband and upgrade their telephone exchanges once a demand
has been identified.
BT set a 500 registration 'trigger level' for the
Millom exchange which we have now reached. It now means BT are going
to upgrade the telephone exchange framework to enable broadband
to be received.
Other exchanges within the area are still to be given
a 'trigger level', but it is still worth registering to show demand
in these areas.

Details and information on how to register an interest in BT Broadband
products can be found on the BT website www.bt.com
under the broadband link.
