The Copeland Local Plan 2001 - 2016

On 6th June 2006 this Council formally adopted proposals for the Replacement Copeland Local Plan. This followed assessment of submissions from interested parties on the Modifications published on 6th April 2006 with the Council resolving not to make any further modifications. The adopted plan forms part of the development plan for the area of Copeland Borough outside the Lake District National Park. The Development Plan forms the basis of decisions on land use planning affecting that area.

Local Development Framework

The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 introduces many changes to the planning regime operating in England and Wales Most of these in the first instance will affect the Development Plan-making process – the work which in Copeland has previously been delivered under the “Local Plans” banner, will be replaced by the “Local Development Framework”. This part of the site holds those documents which make up the Copeland Local Development Framework, we will publish any documents released for consultation on this area of the site, you are advised to check the site regularly to keep up to date.
