Each of the three Districts have secured £30,000 (£10,000 each year for 3 years) of Sport Action Zone funding, for community sports chest awards to local community groups and local organisations.

 

 -  Allerdale's is administered through the partnership of the Community Foundation and coordinated by Allerdale Borough Council. It awards grants of up to £500.

 -  Copeland's is administered through a cross-boundary partnership, with representatives from Connexions, Groundwork Trust, Millom Healthy Communities and South Whitehaven Partnership. Copeland BC is the lead body and grants of up to £500 are awarded.

 

 -  Barrow's is administered through the cross-boundary partnership of Barrow Borough Sports Council and awards grants of up to £1000.

For the Copeland BC area, please read the criteria carefully BEFORE entering your details into the Application Form as this will assist you to complete the form correctly, and avoid delay in processing your request. Please also take care when completing the individual elements within the form, take note of the guidelines for you on the screen.

 

GRANT APPLICATION CRITERIA

 

The Copeland branch of the Sport Action Zone is able to make Small Grants to community groups and clubs (not individuals) to assist them in providing sport and recreation opportunities for local people.

In order to qualify the organisation must fulfil the following criteria:

- Be based in Copeland (or draw the majority of members from within Copeland)
- Be a voluntary organisation from which no individual or group makes a financial gain
- Your organisation must not have received a Sport Action Zone Grant in the past twelve months

Grants can be provided to assist groups in the following areas:

- Equipment purchase
- Training coaches, officials or volunteers
- Production of publicity material
- Assist with the organisation of taster sessions and events
- Establishing new teams or activities
- Informal activities
- Requests for team shirts will not normally be considered

How to Apply:

- Select the 'Go to Sports Grant Application Form' link below, this will take you to the Small Grants Form, complete the categories contained within the form and click the 'submit' button
- Applications must be supported with details of suppliers and prices for equipment and services (e.g. quote, price list, estimate)
- Sport Action Zone Grants are up to a maximum of £500 but priority will be given to a larger number of smaller bids
- Once we have received your application, the request will be considered by the Small Grants Panel. In order for the Panel to make a decision, applications must have been received by 1 June, 1 September, 1 December or 1 March
- You will be notified of the Panel's decision within 2 working weeks of the submission date
- If your Application is successful the Panel will purchase the goods and/or services on behalf of your group
  The Small Grants Panel's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into
